How to colour Fondant

Colouring fondant is very easy. Just follow my step by step process on how to colour your fondant.

    Things you'll need:

  • Fondant (see Homemade Fondant recipe)
  • Toothpick or Toothpicks when making different colours
  • Shortening/ Cornstarch/Icing sugar to avoid sticking
  •  Smooth work surface

 Colouring Fondant

Step 1: Knead the fondant on a dusted work surface area.
Step 2: Swipe  streaks or dots of the food colour of your desire with the toothpick on the fondant (share into chunks if you want to make several colours)












Step 3: Coat your hands with shortening or dust the fondant with cornstarch or icing sugar. Knead in the colour thoroughly until well mixed. Making sure all the colour is well incorporated into the fondant. If you are colouring more that one fondant with different colours, make sure you wash your hands after each handling of the different colours and wipe them dry to avoid the colours mixing into each other.
