This is a traditional way of eating cake. I will personally call  the combo Tea-cake as this reminds me of a movie I watched a long time ago titled "Their eyes were watching God" featuring Halle Berry and Micheal Ealy who played the sweet Teacake in the movie. He encompassed all there is to say about combining cake and tea , LOL, I am sure y'all know what  I mean. *wink. Eating your cake with your favorite cup of green, yellow, black, lemon tea etc, is one of the glorious ways to eat your cake and enjoy it. Especially when that cake is your favourite recipes, it just takes you to high heavens.

2. Cake and Ice-cream

Hmmm!Oh yea! did I hear a yum! and hmmmm! there, Yes! this is one of my favorites. Coldstone knows how to combine this best
especially when the cake is a fudge cake. The melt-in-your-mouth feel is just super. It is a combination of sweets that leaves you wanting more. I believe that having this just before meeting your partner would increase your chances of conceiving by 80% ( LOL, just kidding). But  honestly guys you need to try this combo out! if you have, you will know what am talking about, and if you haven't go get it NOW!. It is a combination that makes you second guess watching your weight!

3. Cake with Milk

This combination I would say is a conventional and nutritious way of eating cake, yet not a very practiced way of eating cake. The cake is usually dipped in creamy milk or eaten and washed down with milk. It can be Hot or Cold milk whichever way you like it as it is based on preference. Try it and let me get your feedback.

4. Cake with Chilled Soda (Soft Drinks)

Right now in Nigeria, the temperature has risen so high and the heat is INTENSE! (I must emphasize). Its really crazy out here that even while driving in your car and your cooling system is on to 18 degrees, you are still sweating like a Christmas goat, ram, chicken or turkey. LOL, its that hot. Also inside your house with the Air conditioner turned on to 16 degrees while you sleep or go around your daily activities, you still have heat rashes on your skin. Chai! its that bad. In all of this everyone is clamoring for a refreshing, chilled bottle of Coke, Fanta or Pepsi. Having a really nice bite of cheesecake or a fluffy mouthful of sponge cake will just make you  feel like you are in Antarctica. *wink. Try it and tell me its not true! And for you guys outside Africa with the chilly weather, Biko! borrow us small!

5. Cake with a Cocktail (Martini etc)

Yea! shocking right? who says cake cannot be combined with alcohol. Its totally doable. But I advise that alcohol be done moderately. My nomination for this combo would be a red velvet cake with a glass of Martini. Hmm!DI-V-I-N-E. Combining these two lets you enjoy the flavours in the cake more. As it is a key ingredient during the process of baking, who says you can have it with it! This I will call a PERFECT VALENTINE!

Nigerian Traditional Wedding Cakes

Image source: Nairaland.com I love my country Nigeria mostly because it is a country blessed with rich cultures and diverse ethnic groups with wonderful cuisines.  In the average Nigerian culture, When a man and woman are going to be joined together, one of the most important ceremonies, is the traditional wedding. This is very key as it is a symbol of the couple's parent being in total support of the union. There must be a traditional wedding before the church or court wedding, whichever way the couple chooses to be joined.  A typical traditional wedding tells guest, friends and everyone that needs to know, where the couple is from. In most traditional marriages, in the order of events, the bride's ethnicity is first represented with the bride dressed and dolled up in almost everything that represents where she is from and then after all the pomp and pageantry of the acceptance of the bride price, the bride then changes her attire into the grooms ethnic group i,e if

5 Ways to Salvage your Ruined Cake

Cake mishaps are inevitable sometimes. And when this happens, usually the first reaction is to panic, especially when it is for an occasion you have been duly paid to service. Let me share one of my many cake mishaps with you. Photo Credit: merrybrides It happened a long time ago when I was still starting out as an amateur baker back in the University. I was given a birthday cake contract to be delivered in two days. I was really excited because that was one of the first major cakes I was actually being paid to do. I wanted to impress so much that I went over-budget to make sure the cake stands out ( it did standout alright! LOL but in an awkward position) LOL. Because of my over-zealousness to impress, I wasn't precise with my measurements and disaster fell. The cake turned out to be soaking wet with fat. Too much fat! I was devastated as I had just that evening to deliver the cake. ( by the way, I didn't start to bake until that day of delivery, another mistake, wan

HOW TO BAKE A CAKE WITHOUT AN OVEN

For people like me who happen to live in a country where power supply is epileptic, one has not to solely rely on electricity for one's daily activities.   This is especially essential for cake makers like me. So in a case where there is no electricity and one cannot afford to use a gas oven, we are made to find a way out - IMPROVISATION.  This baking without an oven technique came in handy many times as a cake maker while studying in the University and still does when I want to be very economical. You can still try it out if you have a cooker that has a non-functional oven or if you find yourself in a situation where  an oven is not readily available Here is how to bake a cake without an oven.  Things you'll need; 1. A kerosene stove or cooker 2. Aluminum Pot - it can vary in size depending on the size of cake. Cupcakes don't require large pots but larger cakes do. 3. Baking Pans ( Aluminum foil pans or cupcake tins or aluminum baking pan
